About
About Agentic Sukuk: who writes this, how we check it, and what we will never claim
Agentic Sukuk is an independent educational site published by the research team at HalalScreener, a Shariah stock-screening service. We explain sukuk and track the arrival of AI agents in Islamic capital markets. Every claim is sourced and dated, both major Islamic traditions are treated with equal weight, and nothing here is a fatwa or investment advice.
Who we are
This site is written and maintained by the research team at HalalScreener, a Shariah compliance screening service for listed stocks, ETFs and crypto at halalscreener.app. We built it because we kept being asked about sukuk, which we do not screen, and because the phrase "agentic sukuk" was about to start appearing in pitch decks with no public, sourced reference for anyone to check it against.
We are not Islamic scholars. We are people who read standards, prospectuses, regulatory statements and court judgements for a living, and who have spent several years building software that applies Shariah screening rules written by scholars.
How we write a page
- Primary sources first. Standard-setters (AAOIFI, IFSB), regulators, the issuers' own documents, institutional fatwa bodies, court records and the original press releases. Secondary commentary is used for context and labelled as such.
- Every figure dated. A number without a date is a rumour. Market statistics name the report edition and publication date.
- Every ruling attributed. We say which institution or scholar said what, and we link to it. Where a source is paywalled or members-only, such as the full text of AAOIFI standards, we say so.
- Both traditions, equal weight. Where Sunni and Shia practice differ, we present both, in the same format and with the same care. We do not take sides between schools and we do not present one tradition's practice as the default.
- Plain language. If a sentence needs a finance degree, we rewrite it. Technical terms are defined in the glossary.
- Dated review. Each page shows when it was last updated. Pages about moving topics are reviewed when the underlying facts change.
What we will never claim
- That any sukuk, fund or product is halal. That is a judgement for qualified scholars, and we link to theirs.
- That HalalScreener screens or certifies sukuk. It does not.
- That an agentic sukuk exists when none does. The home page says so in its first paragraph and will say so until the evidence changes.
- That software, ours or anyone's, can issue a ruling. Egypt's Dar al-Ifta has said it cannot; we agree, and we build accordingly.
- Numbers we cannot source. If a statistic you expected is missing, that is why.
Our relationship to HalalScreener
HalalScreener funds this site and its team writes it. Links to HalalScreener are marked and carry tracking parameters so we can see whether the site is useful to anyone. HalalScreener screens equities and funds; it is not a sukuk product and does not benefit from any particular view of sukuk expressed here. HalalScreener screens; it does not certify.
Advertising
This site carries no advertising at launch. If it ever does, ads will be clearly marked, will never appear inside definition or ruling blocks, and will exclude categories incompatible with the subject matter, including interest-based lending, gambling and alcohol. Advertisers will have no influence on content.
Corrections
If you find an error of fact, a missing source, or a place where we have failed to give both traditions equal weight, email hello@halalscreener.app with the page URL and the correction. We publish corrections on the page concerned with the date. Scholars, regulators and practitioners who disagree with a characterisation are especially welcome to write; we would rather be corrected than confidently wrong.
Reuse
You may quote and link to this site freely with attribution. The reference design in the agentic sukuk lifecycle may be used by anyone, with attribution, to evaluate or build products.
